Your privacy and your rights

We collect only the personal and health information needed to provide your care, and we use it only for that purpose. Your information is stored securely, access is limited to clinic staff involved in your care and is logged, and we never sell it or share it with anyone else without your consent unless the law requires it.

Only clinic staff involved in your care can open your file, and every time a staff member opens it, that access is recorded with their name and the date. Links we text or email you expire, and the clinic can switch a link off straight away if your phone is lost.

Clinical records, including forms and uploaded files, are kept for a minimum of 16 years after your last visit, as required for health records in British Columbia, and are then securely destroyed.

Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's PIPEDA, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask how it has been used, and withdraw your consent — though that may limit the care we can provide. We will respond within 30 days.
